I'd love to see the source for this.
Ditto. I doubt the better educated have the blueprint for happy, long-lasting marriages.
in the paper a while ago, there was a study done on divorce rate compaired to education level.
basicly they found higher education went with lower divorces, while lower education went with higher diverces.. and guess where jw fall into?.
also, more lasting harm caused by the jw's lack of education besides lost jobs, even if one does leave..
I'd love to see the source for this.

para 19 of today's wt had a good rant about the dangers of the internet.
a footnote directs us to an article in the wt aug 15 2011. this said in part.
"be critical and suspicious of the information.
Does he supply sources that can be checked?
You mean, as opposed to some vague, unnamed source intended to give legitimacy to absurd claims? Thank god we have the WT to keep others intellectually honest.
For our prayers to be answered by Jehovah, we have to pray for proper things with a proper motive
Oh I get it, now. You're just more selfless in your prayers than those who ask for the suffering of children to be alleviated. Thanks for clearing that up.
I can remember God answering my 'prayers' even before I became one of JW's. I guess He knew that if He could keep me alive long enough, I would eventually serve Him.
Or you just suffer from the same delusion as many other believers- that you are somehow more important than the millions whose prayers consistently go unanswered.
this morning as my husband and i were backing out of our garage to head out to the farmers market a jw was walking up our walkway with his invitation.
he didn't see us and we didn't rocongnize him but a brother and sister we knew well actually looked our way.
we decided not to bother and went our way to enjoy a lovely morning picking out fresh fruit and vegetables knowing when we got home the invitation would be stuffed in our door.
I don't usually get paper invites. I used to get called, and personally invited, by a local elder who got my cell number, somehow. The only time I would be contacted was for the memorial, or if the CO was visiting. I haven't heard from him in a couple of years, though.
i was invited by my parents, and even though i have nothing but contempt for this religion, things have been good in our relationship so i was considering going just to appease them.
anyone else?.
Nope. I have a streak of 9 straight years of not attending that I'm rather proud of.
according to wt doctrine jehovah's witnesses will be singled out and persecuted during a time described in this way: "for then there will be great tribulation such as has not occurred since the worlds beginning until now, no, nor will occur again.
" according to the watchtower the devil will turn on god's people will all his might (if he really exists, why hasn't he done so already?
) in an attempt to wipe them out.. also, it's not promised that all jws will escape unscathed during this period of time.. even before i woke up fully to ttatt i really thought about what that meant.
Definitely, when I was a kid. Much less so when I reached adulthood, and started to take note of serious holes in WT doctrine, and the bible itself.
from this week's book study, the "draw close to jehovah" book, chapter 5:.
biologists have identified well over a million species of living things on earth; yet, opinions vary as to whether there may be as many as 10 million, 30 million, or more.. .
wow!
"some investigators" = WT staff writers (aka, janitors) making B.S. up off the top of their head....
My thought, exactly. Interesting how there isn't a single actual source listed for people to verify the WT's "facts".
i am sure there has been a post about this subject, however being a recent addition to the network i don't know how to do a search.
and i'm sure new folks have joined since then.
i am really curious of how others came to know ttatt.. for me is was a real bad experience with one elder after another.
I stumbled upon an apostate book(The Watchtower Files by Duane Mangini) in a used bookstore. I was already having serious doubts, so my mind was far more predisposed to reading it. It led me to other books, and eventually this website.
as jws we were often told what the theme of the bible is, we were taught that it was the promised seed.. i was recently asked the question.... what is the main "idea" of the bible?.
for me the whole purpose of the bible is about control.
it features a god that punishes and rewards.
Don't piss god off
